RULES
In Monopolization you play an enterpriser in Wisconsin after the Industrial Revolution. Upon entering the game you automatically take control of a company represented by a letter, number, and 3 random colours. You will be placed in a harbour or railroad of a random city, and your location will be marked by a circle with the letter, number, and colours of your company. From here you can move 1 to 3 spaces whenever you want, and you will be able to take any applicable action for that space with the buttons provided. There is also a doppelganger that will move with you that will have your company's colours and the lowercase letter of your company. This piece represents a random consumer and does not use your company's money.
Each company starts off with $10 from selling all 10 of its shares to the public. Shares can be bought and sold when at the bank. If a company acquires all 10 shares of another company they are merged. The player of the company, and the player of the company that is bought out will have to start over. Otherwise, after 1 hour of being in the game a player will automatically retire and their company will be liquidated. Score is based on value of all shares in portfolio at the time of retirement. A player that loses their company or retires is allowed to join the game again at any time.
Each property has 2 spaces. When at a property a player can purchase it for their company if they have the funds and it is on sale. The number after cost is how much is required to purchase the property. Players can also set the cost of a property if their company owns it. If a player lands on a farm they own they can make $1 by working.
When landing on a shop or inn the company of the player must pay the price listed if the property is properly supplied. If the company cannot afford the price it is liquidated and the player is automatically retired. The owner of a property can set the price to use its good or service. Shops and inns require the products of other properties which they must pay for when a player pays them after landing at their property. Railroads and harbours can also be utilized to travel to other cities, or extend a supply chain beyond the currecnt city. If a company owns properties in a supply chain they will not need to pay for them. If a company is using properties of other companies during a transaction the cheapest possible supply chain will automatically be used.
At the capitol building in Madison players can change antitrust legislation by adjusting the minimum and maximum price a type of property can charge for their good or service. This can be adjusted by $1 each time a space at the capitol is landed on. Companies may set prices lower or higher than what is legally allowed, but when they are utilized customers will pay no less than the minimum and no more than the maximum price set at the capitol.
